Privacy policy

This policy describes the site as it stood on 17 October 2026, when Google AdSense ads were added.

Who we are

standarddeviationcalculator.net is a free collection of statistics, maths and finance calculators, with guides explaining the methods behind them. It is maintained by the site's editorial team (see the about page). There are no accounts, no sign-up and no mailing list.

What we collect, and what we do not

We collect:

  • Visit statistics, through Google Analytics, described under analytics and cookies below.
  • Advertising data, handled by Google AdSense, described under advertising below.
  • Standard request logs kept by our hosting provider, described under hosting and logs below.

We do not:

  • collect the numbers or text you type into a calculator;
  • ask for your name, email address or any other contact details;
  • offer accounts, logins or comments;
  • sell, rent or trade any data about visitors.

Calculators and your data

Every calculator runs as JavaScript in your own browser. The values you type are processed on your device and are not sent to our servers or anyone else's, and they are not stored: the site does not use cookies, localStorage, sessionStorage or any other browser storage for calculator inputs, so they are gone when you close or reload the page.

Two details worth knowing:

  • Links with data in them. Calculators can be prefilled from the address, for example /?q=2,4,4,5, so a result can be shared as a link. The site never adds your data to the address by itself. But if you open or share a link that already contains values, those values are part of the page address, and like any page address they reach our host's request logs, Google Analytics and Google's ad servers. Do not put anything sensitive in a link you share.
  • Copy results. Where a calculator offers to copy its results, the text is written to your device's clipboard only.

Analytics and cookies

We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages are used. It is loaded only on the live site. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (named _ga and _ga_…) to tell a returning browser from a new one, and records the usual page-level information: the page address, the referring page, your browser and device type, screen size, language, and an approximate location derived from your IP address. It does not receive what you type into a calculator, except in the case of a link that already carries values, as described above.

Google processes this data under its own terms; see Google's privacy policy. The cookie policy lists every cookie the site sets, with its lifetime.

The site's typeface is served from this site itself, not from Google Fonts or another font service, so loading it sends no request to a third party.

Advertising

The site is paid for by ads served by Google AdSense, which places them on the page automatically. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your earlier visits to this site and to other websites. Google's advertising cookies let Google and its partners serve ads to you based on those visits. To do this, the AdSense script receives the page address, your IP address, browser and device details, and the cookies described in the cookie policy. Like Google Analytics, it does not receive what you type into a calculator, except in a link that already carries values.

Ads may be personalised (based on your interests) or non-personalised (based on the page you are reading and your approximate location). Where the law requires consent, such as in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google's consent message asks you before cookies are used for personalised ads, and records your choice in a cookie. How Google uses this data is explained in how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

The site's ads.txt file lists Google as its only authorised ad seller.

Hosting and logs

The site is a set of static files served by Cloudflare. To deliver pages and protect the site from abuse, Cloudflare processes technical information about each request, such as your IP address, the page requested, the time, and your browser's user agent, and may keep request logs for security and performance purposes. See Cloudflare's privacy policy. The site has no server of its own that stores anything you submit, because nothing is submitted.

Cloudflare also adds its Web Analytics script to pages, which reports page-load timings and page views to Cloudflare without setting cookies or using other browser storage.

Children

The calculators are suitable for students of any age, and the site does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone. Because there are no accounts or forms, a child using the site provides no more information than the visit statistics, advertising data and request logs described above.

Your choices

  • Block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Every calculator works without them.
  • Opt out of Google Analytics on every site with Google's opt-out browser add-on, or with any content blocker that blocks analytics scripts. Nothing on this site depends on analytics working.
  • Turn off personalised ads in Google's My Ad Center. To opt out of other vendors' personalised ads, use aboutads.info (or youronlinechoices.eu in Europe). You will still see ads, but they will not be based on your interests.
  • Change a consent choice you made in Google's consent message by deleting this site's cookies; the message appears again on your next visit.
  • Do Not Track. The site does not currently respond to the browser's Do Not Track signal, and neither Google Analytics nor AdSense acts on it. Use the options above or a content blocker if you do not want to be counted or shown personalised ads.

Changes to this policy

If what the site collects changes, for example a new ad partner or analytics service, this page will be updated before the change takes effect, and the date at the top will change with it.
