How the odds are worked out
tickets = C(M, N) × C(bonus pool, bonus picks)
A classic 6-from-49 game has C(49, 6) = 49! ÷ (6! × 43!) = 13,983,816 tickets, so one line wins the jackpot with probability 1 in 13,983,816 (about 0.0000072%). Add a bonus pool and the counts multiply: 5 from 69 gives 11,238,513 and a bonus from 26 multiplies that by 26 for 292,201,338. Use the combination calculator to check any format, or the lottery calculator for the odds of each prize tier and the expected value of a ticket.
Quick pick versus choosing your own
The draw is random, so every line is equally likely, whether you let the generator pick or choose numbers yourself. What does differ is how many other players share your numbers: dates push many players towards 1 to 31, so lines that avoid common patterns are less likely to be split. That affects the size of a prize you would share, never the chance of winning.
Play responsibly
The expected return of a lottery ticket is below the price. Treat a ticket as entertainment, set a limit before you play and never spend money you cannot afford to lose. If gambling stops being fun, help is available from national problem-gambling helplines.
Common questions
Are random lottery numbers better than numbers I choose?
No, and no worse. Every combination is equally likely to be drawn, so 1-2-3-4-5-6 has exactly the same chance as any other line. The only difference is that popular choices (birthdays, patterns) are shared by more players, so if one wins you are likelier to split the prize.
What are the odds of winning the jackpot?
One in the number of possible tickets. Picking 6 from 49 gives C(49, 6) = 13,983,816. A 5 from 69 plus 1 from 26 game has C(69, 5) × 26 = 292,201,338 tickets. The page shows the exact figure for the format you choose.
How does the generator pick numbers?
It draws without replacement from the pool using your browser’s cryptographic random generator (Web Crypto), so a number never repeats in a line, then sorts the line. Nothing is sent anywhere.
Can it predict the next draw?
No. Lottery draws are independent random events, so past results carry no information about future ones, and no tool can predict them. This generator only produces random selections.
Does it work for my local lottery?
Use Custom and enter how many numbers you pick (N) and the highest number (M). For games with a separate bonus pool, pick one of the presets or draw the two pools separately.
